In the lower part of the scene we can appreciate a coat of arms linked to the patrons of the work. The devotional image presents the Virgin with the body of Christ already dead, both at the foot of the cross. This main scene is inscribed within a kind of mandorla formed by small lunettes in which different scenes of the life of Christ can be appreciated. The images cover three of the first moments of the life of Jesus and three others dedicated to the cycle of the passion and death, as we can see a scene in which Christ is being deposited in the tomb. As for the aesthetics of the work, the hardness of the folds of the Virgin's clothing, or the fabric that wraps part of the body of Jesus in the main scene, are reminiscent of the stylistic precepts of the Flemish school, specifically that of Roger Van der Weyden.
In this painting we observe how the artist copies both the characters present in the biblical account of the descent of the dead Christ, as well as their disposition, with one objection: they are located on the opposite side to Van Der Weyden's painting, this fact is due to the fact that the artist could have copied the original composition from an engraving. From the 15th century, engraving began its period of splendor and provided a greater diffusion of art, thanks to the copies that artists and engravers made of works of art, both ancient and modern. These reached workshops all over Europe and greatly enriched European art in the artistic periods of the Renaissance and Baroque.
