The coast of A Coruña is shown in this nineteenth-century painting as a peaceful enclave for the villagers who stroll through the feral fields bordering the sea. The sea is calm, without big waves, and furrowed by sailboats. Behind, the military arsenal can be seen perched on the arm of the pier, outlining the bay. The sky is clear and luminous, in spite of the light clouds that are scudding across it.
