This tureen rises on a circular foot that gives way to a large globular container. The handles take the form of scrolls. The lid has a sinuous profile topped with a pineapple.

Platería Ortega was a luxury silver workshop established at the beginning of the 20th century in Mexico City. It managed to position itself as the most important silversmith in Mexico since 1940. It stands out for its quality and original designs mixing pre-Hispanic details with European designs. Its pieces were part of the official gifts of the Mexican Government to Heads of State such as J.F. Kennedy and Charles de Gaulle, and the Royal Courts of the Netherlands, Sweden and Spain.
