Set of four candlesticks made in silver with the same design of straight and angular lines of classical inspiration. The four stand on a square base from which the pyramidal foot is decorated with eggs and geometric shapes. This geometric play continues at the junction between the foot and the shaft, which has a striated finish. The light is shaped like a Tuscan capital.
In the 18th century, candlesticks played a crucial role in everyday life in London. With the lack of electric lighting, streets and homes depended on candlelight, and candlesticks were essential elements in this context. In addition to their practical function, these objects also had symbolic and aesthetic value, reflecting the social status of their owners. The candlesticks, made of various materials such as bronze and silver, adorned tables and public spaces, creating an atmosphere of warmth and elegance. Their presence not only illuminated London nights, but also marked the development of the culture and design of the time, being a testimony of art and urban life in a period of change and modernization.
