The club of the divine Comedy, establishes an allegorical game to the title of the book "The Divine Comedy" by Dante, and represents a tableau tribute to artists and characters that have marked the evolution of universal art. It is an attempt to apprehend in a symbiotic act what they saw special in the world, both from their technique and their worldview. They are a beehive surviving in the same head or perhaps, as were for Dante the characters of his poem, intermingling paradise, hell and purgatory. There they are, resisting time and facing new conflicts, not only the artists, but the characters that have inspired artists from generation to generation, a baroque figuration by exuberant, theatrical, hilarious, that does not seek offense, nor displeasure but the acceptance of the human in its greatest diversity and in the fullest of its existence.
In this piece, we play with the oneiric journey as a threshold of the vulnerability of being. From an unconscious, daily abandonment, chaos is generated and we are exposed to the contradictions between our desires and our immediate reality.
Jan Valdés Téllez is an artist of Cuban origin who currently resides in Madrid. He began his academic training at the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes de San Alejandro in Havana, where he graduated in 2004. His works have been exhibited internationally, notably at the Toronto Art Fair, Canada, the Ludwin Foundation and the Fivars Galleries, Spain, among others.
