The work of Jan Valdes Tellez is undoubtedly distinguished by its playful sense. Perhaps one of the characteristics that marks his creations will be his very personal way of facing "the tragic", "the serious", "the sacred", always from the joke. "Cuqui Cute" belongs to a series of pieces that is conceived as a selection of small divertimentos, where the artist explores, from the visual synthesis, problems of the Fine Arts and aesthetics through time. Inheritance and cyclicality as a source of creation, behind each desacralizing gesture of art, there are centuries of history and tradition.
Jan Valdés Téllez is an artist of Cuban origin who currently resides in Madrid. He began his academic training at the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes de San Alejandro in Havana, where he graduated in 2004. His works have been exhibited internationally, notably at the Toronto Art Fair, Canada, the Ludwin Foundation and the Fivars Galleries, Spain, among others.
