Georgian period desk-bookcase. England, late 18th-early 19th century.
Mahogany wood and lemongrass marquetry.
Use marks. In need of restoration. One handle missing. Various glass faults.

Victorian bookcase, in walnut wood, with lemongrass marquetry in the form of fillets and medallions. It consists of three sections: a chest of drawers with large drawers and metal handles, a desk-secretariat with drawers and compartments, with a pull-out top, and a bookcase in the upper section. The latter is topped with a beautifully truncated pediment, in the form of two opposing scrolls that stylise the whole. The glass doors are decorated with fine ribs forming attractive geometric tracery patterns.
