Charles Schneider, born in 1881 in the Alsace region, was an outstanding Art Deco glass artist. Later, he moved to Nancy, where he began working for Daum. In 1904 he applied to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and continued his studies in Paris. His first series of exhibitions was held in Paris in 1906, and by then he was known for designing vases independently.

Advances in his career led Charles and his brother Ernest to found their own company in 1913, after acquiring a small glass factory in Épinay-sur-Seine. The new company, called "Verreries Schneider," began by producing ordinary glassware. However, they also focused on creating a line of glass with naturalistic patterns, merging the Art Nouveau style with a more modern approach, which would mark their distinctive style.
