Born in the bosom of a well-to-do family, the painting of Gómez Catón -more known as Catón- is framed within the line of Sorolla, Gimeno and Rusiñol. He frequented the Círculo de Bellas Artes, a place where he coincided with painters who, at that time, were beginning to emerge, such as Gabriel Morcillo or Manuel González. He was part of the so-called School of Painters of El Paular, created in 1916 by the General Directorate of Fine Arts. In 1928 he settled in his native Fregenal, a city where he enjoyed great fame as an artist. Currently his work can be found in the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts of Badajoz (MUBA), as well as in numerous private collections.
