Glazed porcelain dish with figurative decoration in field and floral motifs in cavetto and wing, some in reserve.
Kutani village porcelain is first mentioned in 1655. According to the history of Japanese ceramics, stones suitable for the manufacture of porcelain were discovered in the Kutani mine, belonging to the Daishoji clan. In the mid-19th century the name Kutani was revitalized by different craftsmen working in various styles. During and after the Meiji period, most Kutani porcelain was manufactured for export.
