BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Three Lama figures. Tibet, late 19th century-early 20th century.
Repoussé gilded bronze.
Measurements: 30 cm and 25 cm.

Set of three figures in bronze representing three lamas seated in lalitasana, with the right hand in vitarkamudra. We can identify numerous lakshana, iconographic symbols that identify Buddha, as for example the half-closed eyes, or the elongated lobes of the ears, that allude to the big earrings that the members of the high classes wore in the contemporary India to Sakyamuni, and represent the concepts of greatness, nobility and wisdom.
