DESCRIPTION
Funerary model of a granary. China, Han dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD).
Greenish-brown glazed earthenware.
It has damage. With restorations on the foot and on the roof.
Measurements: 27 cm (height).
Cylindrical vessel elevated on three feet in the shape of an animal (dragon or lion) and with a smooth wall only decorated with horizontal incised lines. The roof has radial motifs around an empty center.
These vases initially had a domestic use, to keep the harvest safe from rodents and insects, but later came to have a ceremonial use, keeping in them the offerings that were made to the deceased to enjoy them in the afterlife.
