Persian Tabriz hand-knotted rug with a red field and a border distributed in five bands, the central one wider. Vegetable bouquets of sinuous growth are interlaced in the central field forming beautiful compositions. Fawns and other forest animals appear among the foliated forms and flowers. Shades of red, ochre, brown, beige and blue dominate.

Tabriz is one of the oldest centers of carpet weaving and has a great diversity of carpet types. The rope materials are generally made of cotton or silk which is used for very fine carpets) Tabriz has one of the most diverse displays of designs, from medallions, to figural carpets, etc. Tabriz has been a large and world famous carpet manufacturing center in Iran and the world. It played an important role in the development of rich traditions of decorative and applied arts.
