This fountain pen refers to the red leather jacket and jeans from the movie "Rebel Without a Cause". The shape is inspired by the knife that James Dean used in the movie Rebel Without a Cause when fighting against a gang. The clip resembles the barrel of Jett Rink's shotgun from the 1956 movie "Giant." The rifle cartridge served as the inspiration for the inlay in the pen cap. On the tip of the cap is the Montblanc logo. Next to the logo, James Dean's birth and death dates are engraved on a strip of dark ruthenium. Dean's life motto is engraved on the ruthenium-plated ring: "Dream as if you will live forever. Live as if you were to die today." The cone has the geographic coordinates of the location where Dean was involved in his car accident and his memorial site, now known as James Dean Memorial Junction.
