Pair of armchairs whose design responds to the taste for the sinuosity of the lines that characterized the Louis XV furniture. Short cabriole legs, moulded profiles at the waist and armrests, and a curvilinear profile extending along the contour of the furniture, are typical of this period. The upholstery on the seat and backrest is geometric in black and white. The Louis XV style corresponds to courtly French Rococo, the main style during this century. However, the usual movement of these examples is softened as an influence of works already in the Neoclassical style of the 19th century.
