BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Charles X style table clock; France, second third of the nineteenth century.

Gilded bronze and brass dial.
It has Brocot suspension.
Preserves pendulum and key.
Signed on the dial.
Measurements: 61 x 32 x 18 cm.
Clock of sculptural conception of Empire style that is arranged on a square base of sharp edges with an elegant and synthetic vegetable relief in the front area. The upper part is defined by the presence of a round figure representing a young naked lady who turns her face with respect to the figure of the viewer. The lady rests her arm on a rocky area that serves as a base to frame the clock face with a golden finish and Roman numerals in black.
Nineteenth century bronze table clocks were key pieces in interior decoration and design, as well as symbols of social status and refinement. Elaborately crafted and often adorned with artistic motifs, these clocks not only served to measure time, but also reflected the technical advances and taste for fine craftsmanship of the time. Bronze, a durable and aesthetically appreciated material, allowed the creation of complex and elegant forms, integrating styles such as neoclassical or rococo, which made them highly valued objects in the residences of high society.

COMMENTS
