Cup entirely made of alabaster with gilded bronze applications. The piece stands on a prismatic pedestal of sharp edges, on which rests the circular foot adorned with bronze applique as balls. The vessel has a clock face in the center of the body. It has a golden finish, Roman numerals in black and Breguet style hands. The combination of these apparently disparate elements is, however, effective at the expressive level, and manages to maintain the classical rigor while leaving room for the ornamental fantasy so much to the taste of the bourgeois clientele of the eighteenth and nineteenth century.
