French table clock from the Napoleon III period. The case combines bega marble coating and foliated bronze moldings. A sculpture worked in bronze in round bulge crowns the clock. It represents a courtesan woman in finely brocaded Renaissance costume, reading a book on a lectern. The white enameled porcelain dial has Roman numerals and is decorated with a vegetable garland in gilded bronze. Valances and scrolls, cabochons and masks complete the decoration.
