The machinery presents the stamp of the firm Japy Frères, one of the most prestigious in Europe in the late nineteenth century, founded in the middle of the century by Frédéric Guillaume, Louis Frédéric and Jean Pierre, sons of the renowned watchmaker Frédéric Japy, who long before had laid the foundations of modern watchmaking. The piece presents a sculptural structure in the form of a pedestal made of onyx, on the top of which is a gilded bronze cup. The watch case is extensively ornamented in the central area with Arabic numerals in black.
