With this limited edition, Pelikan presents a Maki-e fountain pen that stands out for its rarity and dazzling beauty.

In addition, the artist can mix charcoal powder and gold dust in the lacquer, so that the pattern of the design rises above the surface: If you glide your thumb over the paint, you can see the difference. This is called Taka-Maki-e technique. It is a complex Japanese lacquer painting technique, renowned for its beauty and artistic mastery. In the process, the unique Japanese Urushi lacquer is applied to the fountain pen in several layers that are repeatedly polished. The design is then drawn with colored lacquer on the surface. This technique is called Togidashi-Maki-e.

In addition, the artist can mix charcoal powder and gold powder in the lacquer, so that the pattern of the design rises above the surface: if the thumb glides over the paint, you will notice the difference. This is the so-called Taka-Maki-e technique. For the Pelikan "Ginko & Maple Leaves" fountain pen model, the artist Maki-e has harmoniously combined both techniques.
The "Ginko & Maple Leaves" fountain pen depicts traditional Japanese autumn motifs: shiny leaves that seem to have just fallen from the tree in the first autumn wind, with golden touches of color that show this magnificent season and its warm sunlight in all its splendor.
With decades of experience, the famous M1000 Souverän model is manufactured in Germany and decorated in Japan. The "Ginko & Maple Leaves" model is a masterpiece with a finely carved 18-karat gold nib accented with rhodium decoration, in nib size M. Each pen is individually signed by the artist.

The Pelikan logo on the crown, the limited edition number and the artist's signature are hand-decorated using the Maki-e technique. This edition is limited to only 88 units worldwide. Each pen features an 18-karat two-tone gold nib, size M, and is presented in a traditional Japanese paulownia wood box.
