Artistic decorations on the barrel and cap inspired by the splendid and extravagant interiors of the rooms and salons of Versailles, the court of the Sun King. The Patron of Art series is the supreme discipline of Montblanc writing instruments. It has been in existence since 1992 and began with the "Lorenzo de Medici" edition. Up to and including 1994, there was only a limited edition of 4810 pieces.

The Montblanc company was founded in 1906, and in 1913 was created the star that is its emblem and hallmark of the house. It is a round white star that represents the snow that covers the summit of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe, and symbolizes the commitment of the brand as European manufacturers of objects of the highest quality and distinction.
