In this work the author has worked with different techniques such as dripping, which focuses the painting on the artist's action, his movement and the randomness with which he arranges himself around the canvas. This technique is accompanied by brushstrokes of an expressive, almost grotesque character, full of pictorial matter and also giving importance to light and colour. Jose Moñu uses this aesthetic in his works but he also uses references to popular culture, to music and to everyday life and its closest reality. In this way he finds in his work a link between abstract expressionism and pop culture. Thus creating a personal language of his own, embedded in postmodernity.
Without abandoning a certain touch of humour and acidity also play a fundamental role in the work of Moñu, who moves on the edge of the ironic and the tragic.
Jose Moñu began to paint in a self-taught way, to complete his training he began to paint in the studio of the painter Eduardo Lozano. It was during this process that he decided to enter an art competition which he won. It was as a result of this award that she began her artistic career in a professional way and started to exhibit her work in 2005. He has exhibited both collectively and individually at national and international level.
Jose Moñu has been awarded several prizes, among them the honourable mention of the XXIII painting prize of "Isabel de Aragón y Reina de Portugal". IAAC Pablo Serrano, Zaragoza in 2009. Nowadays his work is represented in different centres of artistic importance, among them the Provincial Council of Zaragoza, the Juan Antonio Pérez Simón collection in Mexico, the Pilar Citoler collection, the Caja de Ahorros de Inmaculada and the Museum of Fuenlabrada, among others.
