Oil painting on panel, originally part of a passage of Holy Week, representing the flagellation of Christ according to baroque models, although with a language closer to expressionism for its agitated, dramatic brushstroke, and its cold chromatism. The position of Christ's body stands out especially, almost deformed in its pathos, of Italian heritage, which contrasts with the more static figures of the characters in the background, clearly separated from the foreground not only by their location, but also by being enveloped in semi-darkness. The author accentuates the dramatism of the image by placing the spectator on the ground, next to Christ, sharing his point of view, through the use of a very low point of view.
