Juan Palomo Reina studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville and currently works in the university's Painting Department. In this work the artist reveals himself as an heir of the long artistic tradition of the "veduta", of landscape painting, usually of urban environment, which reached a remarkable development in the Italian schools of the eighteenth century, especially in the Venetian and Neapolitan. It should be noted that this trend, due to the rise of tourism and the great artistic tradition of Venice, encouraged these tourists to claim a souvenir of the place where they had strolled. Thus developing a type of image of costumbrista character, where the topics of the city were represented, that artists like Canaletto elevated artistically as a claim of the modernity of the time. In fact, after Canaletto this idea was reinforced by different artists such as Claudio de Lorena and by the theorist John Ruskin. In addition, the vedetismo expanded to other cities that were part of the grand tour.
