Painter and engraver trained at the School of La Lonja in Barcelona, Darius Vilàs completed his studies in Rome and Paris. He was a member of the Círculo de Sant Lluc, and participated in the group's collective exhibition held in 1908 in the Sala Parés. He also took part in the Exhibition of Portraits and Drawings of Barcelona in 1910, the International Exhibition of Barcelona in 1911, and in the municipal exhibitions of 1922 and 1923. In 1925 and 1928 he exhibited with the Friends of Liturgical Art. He obtained one of the prizes of the competition "Barcelona seen by its artists" (1930), and was also awarded in the Spring Salon of 1934. From 1918 he went through a purely noucentista period, characterized by an archaizing style. After this period he returned to a placid realism, already more conventional. He carried out an important work as a muralist in various parts of Catalonia, especially highlighting the murals of the Fomento de Piedad Catalana in Barcelona in 1924. He exhibited frequently in Barcelona, as well as in Madrid, Vitoria and Palma de Mallorca.
