Joan Palet discovered the painting and the drawing being still very young, showing a precocious talent already from his time of student in the School of La Lonja of Barcelona. The Civil War cut short his career, although he never abandoned painting. During the post-war period he collaborated with Palau i Fabre in the clandestine magazine "Poesia", as well as in the first clandestine edition of "Poemes de l'Alquimista". He cultivated both painting and drawing, and dealt with landscape, marine, interior scenes and, above all, portraits and female figures. He exhibited at the Argos gallery in Barcelona and illustrated several books. In 2006, the Palau i Fabre Foundation in Caldes d'Estrac, Barcelona, dedicated a large retrospective exhibition to him.
