Gina Pórtera, painter of Italian descent, graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, having previously studied graphic design at the Elisava School. She later taught at the Adelina Gaeta painting studio, where she was director. She has participated in group exhibitions held all over the world: Marburg, Oslo, Frankfurt, Berlin..., in the Lisbon Art Fair with the Alonso Vidal Gallery in Barcelona, in repeated exhibitions with the Agora Gallery in Sitges, Arnau and Marc3 in Barcelona. Among her solo exhibitions we highlight those held at the Ida Sennacheribbo gallery in Barcelona and at the ArtWindow gallery in the same city. She is represented in public and private collections: Museo Archivo, Pinacoteca Municipal de Sant Andreu de Llavaneres. Barcelona; Avui Foundation. Contemporary Art Collection, Barcelona; Art Fund. Bank of Sabadell; City council of Tremp. Lérida. She has been awarded with the First Prize of Painting to the City of Tremp (2008). In the paintings of Gina Portera all reference of time and place is obviated, exterior and interior landscape are confused, parquet and sand, ceiling and open sky, all unified by a diffuse light that can almost be felt. Her characters seek to expand and always find some loophole to escape from their immediate surroundings, be it a windowless enclosure, a wasteland or the simple boredom of everyday inertia.
