This work is a tribute to the artist Yoshitomo Nara, who has become a cult artist. The secret of his popularity seems to lie in the fact that he amalgamates coldness and tenderness, violence and innocence, perversity and naïff aesthetics. His work draws from multiple languages: graffiti, anime, punk art, comics. In this particular case the artist presents a panoramic view of Yokohama where in a monumental way are represented several of the most recognized figures of the iconographic imaginary of Nara.
Classified as a neo-metaphysical artist, Angel Mateo's works show portraits of contemporary American life. In Charris' works there is an important influence of comics and Pop Art, giving rise to works of a completely figurative character, characterized by the synthesis of its forms and the use of intense and varied colors.Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of San Carlos de Valencia, he made his first trip to New York, delving into the painting of Edward Hopper and the artists of the Hudson River School. Throughout his career as a painter he has held numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally, highlighting, among others, the one held at the Contemporary Art Center of Malaga (2010), in ARTIUM (Vitoria, 2010), in the Ivam Collection (Valencia, 2011) or the National Library of Madrid (Madrid, 2014), among others in the cities of Beijing and New York. Currently, his work can be found in the Argentaria Foundation, Coca-Cola Foundation, Bancaixa Collection, Colecció Testimoni La Caixa, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the IVAM, and the Artium of Vitoria among others.
