The work we present here continues Patiño's artistic language, halfway between figuration and expressionism. His works, plastic testimony of today's world, are characterized by the marked outline that delimits them, as well as by the strident and deformed forms of his characters. It is also worth mentioning his general excess and chromatic originality and the expressive relief of his impasto, all within a vital abundance embodied in his characters, protagonists of a painting that seeks above all the subjective purity.
A visual artist and writer described by the American critic D. Kuspit as a "conceptual expressionist", Antón Patiño made his individual debut in 1974, the year in which he held two personal exhibitions: Ceibe gallery in A Coruña and Centro Lucense in Buenos Aires. Since then he has exhibited individually in galleries and museums in Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Portugal, the United States, France, Sweden and Germany, in outstanding galleries such as Buades in Madrid, Diem & Partner in Zurich, Aline Vidal in Paris, Bruno Fachetty in New York and Clauss & Palacios in Stuttgart. He has also participated in important collective exhibitions and fairs held in other European countries, Latin America and Asia. He has published the books "Xeometría líquida" (1992), "Mapa ingrávido" (1992), "Caosmos" (2007), among others, and in 1999 he signed together with Xavier Seoane the manifesto "Hai suficiente infinito". He has also made comic works ("Esquizoide", 1978) and graphic work ("Haikús da Costa da Morte", together with Alfonso Amada). He has several works in public spaces, among them the mural paintings of the Faculty of Philology in Santiago de Compostela and the Sargadelos factory in Monforte de Lemos, the sculptural intervention in the project for the reorganization of the urban coastline of Lugo or the painting he did in the Museo do Mar de Galicia in Alcabre. Patiño is represented in the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Centro Gallego de Arte Contemporáneo, the MEIAC in Badajoz, the MACBA in Barcelona, the Artium in Vitoria, the Dobe Collection in Zurich and the Thomas Collection in Munich, the Castrelos Museum in Vigo, the Fine Arts Museums in Oviedo, Álava and Santander, the National Library and the Municipal Museum in Madrid and other public and private collections.
