Painter. He studied Fine Arts at the School of Sant Jordi in Barcelona, a city whose cultural activities had a considerable influence on his painting. From 1968, when he was still a student, he took part in the open-air exhibitions in the Plaza de la Princesa, where he got his first scholarship. In the seventies he had his first individual exhibitions. In 1977 he is chosen for the exhibition Museo de la Resistencia Salvador Allende, at the demanding Juana Mordó gallery in Madrid. He participates in two exhibitions in homage to Leopoldo Nóvoa and is linked to the Atlántica movement, from its beginnings in 1980, in Baiona. He also takes part in the Biennials of the Deputation of Pontevedra, while alternating with individual exhibitions in different Spanish cities. Interested in design, he makes editorial works of great personality. His work is represented in museums in Galicia. Mantecón made a spatialism of exquisite execution, based on elementary geometries, in large rectangles almost always in duplicity, on which he inscribes his meticulous graphics, related to Eastern philosophical currents and specifically with the Tao.
