After going through an abstract and constructive stage, the work of Manolo Gómez ended in a symbolic realism around the representation of objects endowed with a subjective value and a special and decontextualized significance. The present painting from his mature period is situated in this line.

Painter, draftsman and engraver, Manolo Gómez began his training in the workshop of the painter Puig Belloch, and later completed it at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes in Seville. In 1970 he moved to the Barcelona town of Rubí, after having made himself known two years earlier in exhibitions held in Seville and Ibiza. Subsequently he held exhibitions of his work in Madrid, Barcelona and other Catalan towns, including Tossa de Mar, Begur and Rubí. In the eighties he will make the international leap, with a solo exhibition at the Galleria dell'Incisione in Venice. At the same time he participated in group exhibitions of Sevillian artists and engravings, and also in competitions such as the Ynglada Guillot drawing competition, in the 1972 edition of which he won first prize. Around 1974 he moved to the Empordà municipality of Ordis. He is currently represented in various private collections, such as the Vila Casas Foundation.
