Domènec Carles began his training, mainly self-taught, in Barcelona, to later spend some time in Paris, between 1910 and 1913. There he attended the free academies and participated in the Salon d'Automne in 1912. During these years he held exhibitions of his work in Barcelona and Berlin. His painting, of smooth and sober colors, can be included within a neoimpressionism where color, of clear harmonizations, plays an essential role. Carles focused his production on landscape and flower painting, and also wrote art articles, from Paris, for "La veu de Catalunya". He is the author of "Memorias de un pintor" (1944), and is represented in the Museums of Modern Art in Madrid and Barcelona, as well as in the Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao.
