Francesco Peluso was an Italian painter of virtuoso technique, specialized in the genre of the casacón. This type of scenes, of gallant and hedonistic theme, cheerful and colorful, worked with a precious and descriptive invoice, were frequent during the second half of the XIX century, within the context of the historicisms. They belong to the genre called "de casacons" or "tableautin", characterized by works inspired by an idealized past, often from the 17th and 18th centuries, usually of small or medium format and intended for an eminently bourgeois clientele. This work shows some characteristics that will be basic of the genre, such as the technical delicacy of the figures, highlighting all the details with a great preciosity, the careful light and atmospheric representation or the bright colors of the costumes.
