"Knight swordsman" shows the precious style and the brilliant chromatism of the author's work. Francisco Peralta del Campo was a Spanish painter based in Italy. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Seville, where he was a disciple of Eduardo Cano. He participated in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts (Spain) in 1864 and 1866 with the works: La primavera, Un frutero and Un pensamiento, obtaining Honorable Mention. In 1868, accompanied by the painters José Villegas Cordero and Luis Jiménez Aranda, he left for Italy, spending long periods in Rome and Venice. His canvases "Caballero de Casaca" and "Retrato de señora con el fondo rojo" can be seen in the Prado Museum in Madrid, other works are in private collections such as "Firma de esponsales" from the Bellver Collection (Seville).
