The present work, of clear influence murillesca, is framed in the Sevillian school of the middle of the 19th century, in which the Virgin is represented in its invocation of Immaculate. Against a golden background that radiates the Marian halo, the Virgin stars in this devotional scene, trying to arouse compassion with her tender and idealized face, and her hands joined in prayer. Captured half-length, her figure acquires a sculptural volume thanks to a typically Murilloesque luminous modeling. The Virgin has a rictus of wonder, usual in the scenes of the Immaculate Conception.
