It is a painting that follows the work of the "Adoration of the Magi" by Federico Zuccaro for the Grimani family in San Francesco della Vigna in Venice. The original painting is an oil on marble realized in 1564. This same composition was quite successful and was engraved first by Cornelis Cort and then by Justus Sadeler.

The work that converts us, derives from the engraving of Cornelis Cort where the star is seen on the top, appearing between the beams of the roof and with the architectures in the background.

Painting of Flemish school, of which the qualities printed on the sumptuous garments, as well as the rich choreography that compose the variety of characters characterized with ingenious naturalism give account. The vivid agitation of the figures and the arch of the background opening towards a wide sky in which a star shines, recalls the solutions applied by Rubens in the same subject (canvas preserved in the Prado Museum). As in the Flemish master's painting, a clear night illuminates the scene and the light seems to emanate from the bodies, especially from the body of Jesus, Mary and the kneeling King Melchior. But the rest of the characters also have a personality of their own. Enraptured, they carry myrrh and incense. Their cloaks shine like satin and fine silk, as do the soldiers' helmets. A great variety of human types come to Bethlehem. This painting is fully inscribed in the baroque style, notable in the precious attention to detail, in the handling of the hallmarks of light and in the varied spectrum of facial expressions.
