Artist formed mainly in the sculptural field receiving his first lessons in a spiritual environment due to the Salesian School of Sarriá. Years later he moved to Argentina where he was taught the art of carving. After this period abroad, he decided to return to Spain in 1955 with a renewed technique where diversity and unity prevail. Serrano evolves through experimentation in each of his stages, as he is guided by his own will and not by the requirements of society.
In 1956 he settled in Madrid, where he became a founding member of the group "El Paso" which includes the most innovative artists of Madrid.
We find ourselves before an artist who works through poetry, in fact, several of his works can be found explained in verse. Also note that his titles hide personal meanings. He works with opposite terms, beginning and end, life and death, despair and hope; he also shows a great interest in the human being, trying to explain and understand the human situation through his works.
His work is currently in museums and collections such as the MOMA in New York, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Galeria Nazionale di Arte Moderna in Rome, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Marlborough Gallery in London, and many others.
