Drawer and illustrator better known by his pseudonym, D'Ivori, Joan Vila Pujol trained at the Borrell Academy, the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc and with Josep Triadó. He began his career working in his father's stained glass workshop, and in 1909 he illustrated the two volumes of "Rondalles Populars Catalanes". In 1911 he emigrated to Argentina, where he published his drawings in the magazine "Caras y Caretas". Back in Barcelona in 1914, he collaborated in various publications promoted by Ramon Miquel i Planas, and also published his illustrations in several magazines of the time, in addition to making some scenographies and collaborating with architectural projects.
