This elegant nude stands out within Icart's production, for the great vivacity and delicacy of the female drawing, showing the artist's mastery in mixing two techniques of great complexity. On the other hand, we find that it was made in New York, and Icart, since he traveled in 1922 to the capital to exhibit his work, developed part of his career in the United States, portraying the life of the Big Apple during the 1920s and 1930s.

Louis Justin Laurent Icart began painting in Paris at a very early age. At first he made postcards based on original designs, but gradually he began to make his own. He illustrated some magazine covers of the time, which earned him the confidence of the general public.

In 1913 he exhibited his drawings at the "Salon des Humoristes", which marked a turning point in his career, because from that moment on he began to learn copper engraving, a technique he would develop throughout his career.
