Empire style lamp base. France, ca. 1890.
Gilded and patinated bronze.
Measurements: 90 x 18,5 x 18,5 cm.
Lamp base with shaft in the form of a Greek Ionic column. This one presents the fluted stem with foliate capital on a square base of patinated bronze adorned with typical attributes of the Empire style, as the zither and the imperial laurel wreath. The lot is crowned with a flaming flame. It is an object of monumental lines, architecturally inspired and totally classical although synthesized, in a certain way geometrized, as is typical of the Empire style.
