It is a technique that gave celebrity to the lamps of Louis Comfort Tiffany, and that give each piece a status of unique work of art. In the organicist design of the piece shown here, the modernist imprint can be appreciated,
The first Tiffany lamps were created 100 years ago by American glass artist Louis Comfort Tiffany. Since then, hundreds of different patterns and designs have been created. Louis Comfort Tiffany was the American artist and industrial designer most associated with the Art Nouveau movement. He was a painter, interior decorator, designer of stained glass windows and lamps, glass mosaics, blown glass, ceramics, jewelry and metalwork. In about 1875 he became interested in the technique of glassmaking and worked in various glassworks in Brooklyn. The first Tiffany Glass Company was incorporated on December 1, 1885, and in 1900 became known as Tiffany Studios. Early examples of his lamps were exhibited at the Chicago World's Fair of 1893. He registered the term favrile on November 13, 1894.
