This 19th century writing desk is modeled after the Neapolitan baroque cabinets of the 17th-18th centuries. It has an architectural structure and tortoiseshell decoration. It is a model that was widespread in Europe in the 17th century, especially in Italy, but originated in Holland. The decoration is concentrated on the front, and on the sides it is reduced to geometrical carvings. The sample is divided into three streets, the central one slightly forward, with a baroque façade structure. The side streets house four equal drawers, with the front decorated with rectangular recesses. The bronze locks are decorated with plant buds. The central street is the main protagonist, as is usual in the baroque bargueño, and its structure shows the influence of contemporary architecture, with the columns standing out on the ground plan. The desk is raised on a table with turned legs and iron fasteners.
