This table is a 19th century version of the well-known 17th century center tables by Pierre Gole and Leonard Van der Vinne, important cabinetmakers specialized in the inlay technique, who helped spread throughout Europe the taste for floral inlays made of exotic woods, ivory and mother-of-pearl. This is a fine specimen with marquetry depicting an imposing bouquet in the center of the envelope, framed by a design of floral motifs. The top edge of the envelope is embellished with a delicate ivory and bone inlay that adds freshness to the composition. The waist has a drawer. The entire piece of furniture is raised on classically inspired legs in the form of a column with a large base decorated with floral motifs and a fluted shaft, all connected to each other by "H" shaped chamfers. Flattened sphere feet support the table.
