BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Two baroque Solomonic columns. Italy, late 18th century.
Gold and silver leaves in carved wood and stucco (plaster).
Measurements: 220 cm.
Fantastic set of two helicoidal salomonic columns with gold and silver leaves in carved wood and stucco (plaster), characterized by a spiral shaft associated with Corinthian capitals and acanthus leaves. The twisted S-shaped shaft gives energy and dynamism to the traditional form of the column, which conforms to these qualities that are characteristic of the baroque.
Solomonic columns are a type of architectural column characterized by their helical, screw-like shape and decorated with vegetal motifs. This architectural style originated in the 16th century in Italy and became popular in the 17th and 18th century in Europe and Latin America.
