DESCRIPTION

RAMON ENRICH (Igualada, Barcelona, 1968).
"Village.
Plaster, wood and metal.
Work catalogued in "Ramon Enrich: arquitecturas, tipografies i altres volums", edited by Fundació Vila Casas.
Measurements: 72 x 110 x 45 cm (table); Ca l'Isidre (6 x 3 x 3 x 3 cm); Cal Xarpe (13 x 7 x 8 x 8 cm); Church (18 x 9 x 6 x 6 cm); Cal Mandel (10 x 16 x 6 x 6 cm); La Torre (14 x 6 cm diameter); Cal Bonet (10 x 10 x 10 x 6 cm); Cal Sió (8 x 7 x 7 x 7 cm); La Loseta (9 x 8 x 8 x 8 cm); Cal Llera (8 x 13 x 8 cm); Cal Perelló (7 x 15 x 8 cm).

Ramon Enrich is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the essentialism of architectural forms. This is evident in this "Village" formed by cylindrical towers, houses with pyramidal roofs and various parallelepipeds. In painting, photography and sculptural installations such as this one, Ramon Enrich connotes the scenes with a metaphysical and mysterious cadence. Probably, this type of sculptural assemblages are transferred, in turn, in paintings and dreamlike photographs by the artist.

Trained in Barcelona, Enrich moved to the United States and finally settled in New York, where he was Julian Schnabel's assistant. He has exhibited his work all over the world, in group and personal exhibitions, and was awarded the First Prize for Painting in Manresa in 1985, and the First Prize for Drawing at the Igualada City Council Art Exhibition in 1987. He is represented in the Tanaka Foundation in Tokyo, the collections of La Caixa and Banco Santander, etc., as well as in important private collections such as those of Donald Judd, Norman Foster and Eric Spiekerman.
