Set of six branches of red coral with a completely organic finish typical of the material and its characteristics. Coral is a highly prized natural material used both for jewelry making and decoration. The ancient Greeks gave coral a mythological meaning and magical value. The battle between Perseus and Medusa tells that when Perseus managed to cut off the head of Medusa, who had the ability to turn someone into stone just by looking at him, he placed her on a bed of algae and the algae petrified and turned into coral. Therefore, the word "coral" has its origin in two Greek words meaning "daughter of the sea". Other civilizations that later settled in the Mediterranean thought that coral was "the essence of life", considering it a true gift from the gods.
