Carved boxwood.
Mounted on metal base.
Measurements: 42 x 26 cm.
Christ of three nails carved in boxwood. It is a suffering figure, expiring, with the open and turned towards the sky, in a gesture that implores mercy. The carver has worked the anatomy with remarkable mastery: a body of classical canon, with veins and musculature highlighted under the thin skin. A slight movement of the hips accompanies the flexion of both legs with subtly turned knees. The drapery is twisted around a rope rope rope, printing a skillful play of chiaroscuro. Naturalism and restrained pathos are characteristic of the baroque period.
