The particularity of the neoclassical cup up for bid lies in the material used, the so-called ancient green porphyry (also serpentine or green porphyry of Greece), a variety of marble used by the Romans. Generally the background of the porphyry is dark green, but however it can vary in different shades of green and reach brown or violet. It contains spots (crystals) of green or white, sometimes red or yellow, which have a polygonal shape and dimensions ranging from millimeters to centimeters.
Formally, the cup stands on a pedestal with straight profiles and sharp edges, on which the circular foot and the concave shaft rest. It has a large semi-ovoid container formed by concave and convex moldings.
