The Ondine table is one of the milestones of Danielle Quarante's career, an example of which is that the Pompidou Center has a copy in its collection.
Danielle Quarante entered the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in 1959. She worked as a freelance designer until 1973. She designed models for the publishing industry in molded wood, thermoformable materials and polyester. In 1969, she presented at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs the Albatros armchair, whose freedom of form is made possible by the material itself, which offers both strength and elasticity. A professor at the University of Compiègne since 1974, she introduced for the first time in a training center the teaching of industrial design for future engineers. She was also one of the first designers to use the computer-aided graphic design system. In 1984, she published Eléments de design industriel (Elements of industrial design), a fundamental work for designers and all those involved in design, whether they are specialists in communication, marketing, management or other fields. It provides the theoretical basis for understanding industrial design.
