BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

MARTIN STOLL (Germany, 1920-2012).
Pair of armchairs "G-Pino Pinocchio", 1980.
Lacquered iron and wood.
With manufacturer's label.
Measurements: 87 x 40 x 58 cm.

Martin Stoll's G-Pinochio Pinocchio armchairs, manufactured in 1980, are iconic pieces by the notable German businessman and designer of office furniture. This time, inspired by the character of Pinocchio, the furniture features playful and original lines, with the circular backrest in green painted wood, contrasting with the lacquered iron body, with a tubular structure with sophisticated lines that keep the seat in suspension.

Martin Stoll was a German entrepreneur and manufacturer of office furniture. Stoll came from the family of office furniture manufacturers founded by his grandfather Albert Stoll in 1871. After completing his studies, he attended carpentry school in Rosenheim. He then joined his parents' company and continued it together with his brothers Albert and Christof Stoll at the Koblenz AG locations and in Tiengen and Waldshut after his father's death in 1937. After serving in the war, he was taken prisoner by the British, from whom he was released in 1947. He then rejoined his parents' company, which was divided between him and his brother Christof in 1958. Martin Stoll took over the Tiengen factories and from 1977 operated under the name "Martin Stoll Stuhlfabrik" (now Kinnarps GmbH). He managed the company until 1999. Production in Tiengen was discontinued in 2006.
